Staff Sergeant Timothy Coene is a native of Rochester, New York, and is the tenor saxophonist in the West Point Band. Prior to joining the band, he earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Ithaca College as a student of Professor Steven Banks and Dr Eric Troiano, and a Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music as a student of Dr. Chien Kwan Lin. While attending Eastman, Staff Sgt. Coene served as an instructor of saxophone at the University of Rochester and performed with various groups, including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Eastman Saxophone Project.
