Staff Sergeant Alec Mawrence joined the West Point Band in 2022. Originally from Northbrook, Illinois, he earned a Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University and a Master of Music from the University of Michigan. In addition to his duties with the band, he is on the faculty at the Bard College Conservatory of Music and serves as principal tuba in the Allentown Symphony Orchestra. He spent three summers at the Aspen Music Festival and School and has performed at renowned venues worldwide with the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America. His mentors include Warren Deck, David Zerkel, Gene Pokorny, Matthew Gaunt, Rex Martin, and Jared Bulmer.
