Staff Sergeant Song Verdouw joined the West Point Band in 2024. She began her military career in 2018, serving with the 1139th Military Police Company. While deployed in Kuwait from 2020 to 2021 in support of Operation Spartan Shield, she had her first experience of military music performance, serving as a vocalist on a tour that supported a United States ambassador and the Kuwaiti Royal Family. This ignited a passion for Army performance, leading to her reclassification as an Army Bandsman upon returning home. From 2022 to 2024 Staff Sgt. Verdouw served with the 135th Army Band as lead vocalist, attended the United States Army School of Music and studied music therapy at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music.
